Independent electrochemistry consulting

Technical judgment for startups, companies and research groups that develop or evaluate electrochemical systems. No supplier ties, no institutional agenda, and no incentive to steer you toward a predefined answer.

Areas

Typical problems I help with

  • Experimental design & troubleshooting

Getting the cell, electrodes and protocol right, and finding out why results don't reproduce.

    • Irreproducible voltammograms
    • Drifting reference electrodes
    • Cell and electrode configuration
  • EIS & data interpretation

Impedance analysis you can defend, grounded in physics rather than curve fitting.

    • Choosing and justifying equivalent circuits
    • Separating physics from artefacts
    • Data validation and reporting
  • Modelling & simulation

Electrochemical models that let you explore designs before paying for fabrication.

    • Models of sensors and cells
    • Iterative parametrisation against measurements
    • Design exploration
  • Equipment & setup decisions

Instruments and components chosen for the measurement you actually need.

    • Potentiostat specifications
    • Electrode and cell selection
    • Lab setup reviews
  • Sensors & biosensors

From transduction principle to a measurement that works outside the lab.

    • Electrochemical sensor development
    • Biosensor interfaces
    • Paper-based devices
  • Technical strategy

An independent view on whether an electrochemical approach can deliver what you need.

    • Feasibility assessments
    • Technology review for partners or investors
    • R&D roadmaps

Case

Fewer fabrication runs through modelling

FaradaIC Sensors

FaradaIC Sensors develops microfabricated electrochemical gas sensors. Over six months I built electrochemical models of their devices and parametrised them iteratively against measurements, so design decisions could be tested in simulation before committing to microfabrication.

“Dmitry has enabled us to significantly reduce development costs by minimizing the need for physical microfabrication.”

Process

How we work

  1. 01

    First conversation

We go through your problem, data and constraints. If I'm not the right person, I'll tell you.

  2. 02

    Proposal

A short written scope with deliverables, timeline and fees, agreed before any work starts.

  3. 03

    Work

Analysis, modelling or experimental review, with regular check-ins. You get the reasoning, not just the conclusions.

  4. 04

    Handover

A clear report and a session with your team, so the knowledge stays in-house.

Formats

Ways to work together

  • Focused review

A few days on one specific question: a dataset, a setup or a measurement protocol.

  • Project

A defined scope over weeks or months, such as building a model or optimising a sensor.

  • Ongoing advisory

A monthly allocation of hours for teams that need an electrochemist they can call.

Tell me about your project

A short description of the problem is enough to start. I reply personally, usually within a couple of working days.
